Meet Big Red
Big Red was purchased in October 2007 by Vanessa Jones and has been an important part of the local community ever since.
Four of the five crew members are from the Sandgate Scout Den. Since purchasing Big Red she has been to 3 high school formals, a year 7 graduation, taken Santa to a Preschool Christmas party, a hens night, 2 scout camps and partied at Mooloolaba on New Years Eve. Being such a high profile vehicle the advertising is seen everywhere we go.
Big Red made her Great Endeavour Rally debut in 2008 and won the trophy for "Car with Character". We previously won this trophy in 2007 also with Stretch - the Limo we rallied (R.I.P Stretch). Big Red didnt miss a beat the entire rally and her horn with animal noises was a hit. Big Red also visited local schools along the way giving out red balloons and letting the kids have a climb on the engine. Big Red is no light weight, weighing in at 12 tonne. She is also a favourite to be picked up from school in by Vanessa's grandchildren!
The crew members of Big Red for 2008 were Vanessa Jones, Peggy Uhl, Maryanne Rowland and Andree Batson.
The crew members for 2009 are Vanessa Jones, Andree Batson, Peter Batson, Mick Uhl and Glen Rollinson.
Big Red is always looking to raise money for charity and we are fundraising throughout the year doing raffles at our local RSL. Big Red also has a generous list of sponsers including:
